Local Engagement

With a small town heritage and work ethic, Surerus recognizes the importance of local engagement and has successfully worked with communities throughout Western Canada for more than 45 years. We strive to be a good neighbour in each one of the communities where we live, work, and operate, and we hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity and respect.

Communities where we operate benefit from our integrated approach to local engagement and our efforts to minimize the potential impacts of projects and operations. Strong community engagement is a desired outcome for our projects as we enhance local economies through significant direct and indirect spending. We engage with the local community on three basic levels:

1. Hiring local personnel, contractors and vendors to work with us in delivering projects.

2. Communicating with local organizations and residents where our projects may affect the community.

3. Direct support by Surerus and its personnel in local initiatives and programs that enhance communities.

On all projects Surerus works closely with local communities to mitigate concerns, minimize disruption and inconvenience and maintain open communication throughout the project’s lifecycle. Our construction teams maximize the involvement of local personnel, contractors, vendors and suppliers. These efforts leave a lasting impression on our communities as we focus on living by our motto of Safe Work. Quality Work.

Through meaningful and effective local engagement, both Surerus and the communities we work in benefit from strong ties, jobs, local spending and legacy funding for community groups.
